Arriving in the family caravan following the death of her father and charged with sorting through the bits and pieces of her life, Static is the story of Ruby: a neurodiverse performer coming to terms with her past and ultimately finding her voice.
A semi-biographical, dark comedy exploring one woman’s experience of acceptance surrounding disability.
Suitable for ages 14+.
Performer – Elaine Collins
Elaine Collins is a theatre maker from Liverpool. She is a neurodivergent artist with long term health conditions. She is also from a working class background. Following her degree, she completed an MA in Acting at LIPA. She has been on the Graeae artist development programme and Dadafest Theatre Makers as well as an artist development programme with the British Council. Static is based on Elaine’s experience of being a disabled woman and of feeling owned.
Director – Paula Simms
Paula is a professional theatre director working nationally and Internationally. She is a founder member and Artistic Director of Zho Visual Theatre.
Composer & Musician – Andy Frizell
Andy has worked extensively as a composer for theatre, film, dance, installation and large scale spectacle, notably with Kaboodle productions in the 90s.
Writer & Dramaturg – Esther Wilson
Esther is a multi-award-winning writer who has written for stage, radio, and TV. Her TV credits include episodes of THE STREET, ACCUSED, CALL THE MIDWIFE, MOVING ON, JUSTICE and CLINK.
