All our archives displays are free to access during the opening hours at Oldham Archives. \nThe display brings together items from the archive and a curated selection of film\, sound and photographs on our digital kiosk. The archive material explores the contribution Charles Armitage made as a soldier in Spain and as a sponsor of Basque refugee children evacuated to England during and after the war. The digital kiosk brings together biographies and images of all ten Oldham men who fought in Spain: Clem Beckett\, Harry Roland Heap\, Joseph Maynard Lees\, Clifford Wolstencroft\, Albert Charlesworth\, William Jackson\, Charles Hanson\, Kenneth Bradbury\, Charles Armitage and Joseph Buckley. \nDrop in Monday to Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-1pm.

Admire the original three-sided gallery with its box-type pews\, small chancel and central West Tower. The tower is flanked by porches with swept coped parapets and ball finials. The top stage of the Tower is in the Italianate style with arcades and clock faces. The Historic Graveyard is open all day. \nThere is a slight downhill gradient on the stone path to the entrance of the church. Visitors should take care as some of the gravestones adjacent to the church entrance are smooth and can be hazardous in wet weather. Warning notices are posted. \nThere is street parking on Woods Lane and Nudger Green. \nOpen Monday to Sunday 10am-4pm throughout the Oldham Histories Festival.

DESCRIPTION: \n\n\nPick up our booklet containing a brief history of the church and tour the building at your own pace. Admire the original three-sided gallery with its box-type pews\, small chancel and central West Tower. The tower is flanked by porches with swept coped parapets and ball finials. The top stage of the Tower is in the Italianate style with arcades and clock faces. The Historic Graveyard is open all day. \nThere is a slight downhill gradient on the stone path to the entrance of the church. Visitors should take care as some of the gravestones adjacent to the church entrance are smooth and can be hazardous in wet weather. Warning notices are posted. \nThere is street parking on Woods Lane and Nudger Green. \nOpen Monday to Sunday 10am-4pm throughout the Oldham Histories Festival.
