Author Talk Steve McCluskie: Around the world in 80 games

Author Steve Mccluskie after having travelled 97,000 miles, to 35 countries across 6 continents , I have finally completed my Around the World in 80 Games journey and accompanying book. I believe I’m the first person to have taken just a ball and four jumpers for goalposts and completed such a journey.

Fed up with the commercial aspects of modern football, the growing disconnect between players and fans, and alleged corruption within the governing bodies of the game, I decided I’d go and have a kick-about around the world, After all, it’s our game and not the preserve of the billionaires and Blatter’s of this world. The journey has taken me beyond my wildest dreams. These random pop-up games have attracted people of all ages and backgrounds to play, and many people who had never kicked a ball before. The magic earth shaped ball has connected people from all walks of life There has been no involvement with professional clubs, just a celebration of the game with members of the public. I returned with so many fantastic life affirming memories and stories
