Class visits to Oldham Libraries and Gallery Oldham

Through our education programme, schools are offered the opportunity to bring groups to any library and to Gallery Oldham for tours, workshops and library skills introductions.

The aims of the programme are to:

  • Provide a general introduction and overview of our welcoming library spaces
  • Ensure children are aware of library services and how to access them
  • Promote age-appropriate information literacy skills
  • Encourage regular use of libraries and galleries by children and their families
  • Help children discover the pleasure of books, reading and storytelling
  • Support school-based learning
  • Inspire enjoyment in natural history and geology, a love of art and an interest in Oldham’s heritage from an early age

Another option is for three 1 hour facilitator-led live digital sessions straight to your classroom. Each session is accompanied by a loans box on a 10-day loan to explore before, during and after the workshop.

You can also use our cross-curricular Schools PowerPoints for educational activities inspired by artworks and artefacts from our collections (free to download).

Join us in celebrating artists, their artworks and their achievements with our new Artist in Focus series! Each PowerPoint is dedicated to an artist whose work features in our collection.
