Meet Frank Rothwell’s Kiichiro Rothwell car

Frank has built this incredible car to celebrate Oldham’s historic links with Japan.
In 1922 Kiichiro Toyoda spent two weeks training at Platt Brothers in Oldham. In 1929 he sold Platt Brothers a patent for a new type of loom, and used the money to found the Toyota Motor Corporation.
Frank has based his car on the design which the Eclipse Motor Company manufactured in Oldham between 1901-1929. Frank built this new version in his garage at home last year, using 50% second hand Toyota parts.
