Mindfulness Walks
November 11 @ 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Adult wellness walks with Oldham Libraries.
Nature is full of wonder and inspiration. Stepping out into it together, we can explore pathways to resilience and wellbeing. Walking alongside whatever difficult issues or feelings we are experiencing, we will tune into our senses and our breath. Using these free, simple, natural resources to begin to soothe our nervous systems, reduce stress and support our own well-being.
Our friendly, walking group starts and finishes at Failsworth Library. Join us for a gentle paced walk along Moston Brook canal. This walk is led by Kim Harrison – One Heart Nature Connection, the parks team and Oldham Libraries.
More about Kim – Kim is an Art Therapist, Eco-therapist and nature-based mindfulness guide. She provided online wellbeing groups throughout the pandemic, and has previously worked with refugees, autistic individuals, and in forest schools. Throughout her career Kim witness and personally experienced the devastating mental health impacts of fast-paced, high-stress, over-stretched, under-funded work environments, battling work-related stress, anxiety and burnout. Her own recovery encompassed daily mindfulness, breath-work, creative processing, and deep nature connection practices. She now specializes in wellbeing, stress/anxiety management and burnout recovery.
Disclaimer – Whilst the hope is that this session will in some gentle ways ease stress etc from the perspective of self-help, this is not therapy. If you are suffering from physical or mental health difficulties, this is not a replacement for conventional medical support and medication. Please always see your GP as your first port of call, especially before discontinuing any medication you are taking.
Please note – Appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn. We will be walking along muddy paths and some slight inclines.
