Launch Reception and Screening of La Fille du Puistaier (PG)
March 28 @ 6:15 pm – 9:00 pm
Launch reception (Wine and Nibbles) of the 2024 Little French Cinema Season from 6.15pm followed by the screening of La Fille du Puisatier.
1 hour 47 minutes
Drama/romance
Director: Daniel Auteuil
A story adapted from a novel by Marcel Pagnol starring Daniel Auteuil, Astrid Frisbey and Nicolas Duvauchelle. The story is set in the south of France at the start of WW11. It is in style and content an old-fashioned film which draws comparison with Jeanne de Florette and Manon des Sources, in which Auteuil also played a leading role.
Auteuil plays Pascal, the well digger and cleaner. Patricia, the youngest of his daughters is being courted by his middle-aged mate Felipe but she is romanced and captivated by Jacques, an unreliable younger man from an upwardly mobile bourgeois family. Strong performances from Auteuil and the other leading actors portray the consequences of this relationship in a close-knit rural community.
Wine and Cheey nibbles reception from 6.15pm.
Film starts at 7pm – no trailers, no advertisements.
